Gramatik and Klingande to headline Bang On!NYC’s second annual Elements Music & Arts Festival

The line up for Elements Music & Arts Festival, one of the most highly anticipated musical extravaganzas hitting Brooklyn this August, has been revealed! Gramatik and Klingande will headline with an international assortment of opening acts including Claptone, Mija, Opiuo, Sweater Beats, Le Youth, Bleep Bloop, Govinda, and more!

On August 13, BangOn!NYC‘s Elements Festival will take over a waterfront Brooklyn location from 1 to 10pm and include 4 stages (Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water), Circus performances by House of Yes, the acrobatic and aerial artist troupe and music venue from Bushwick, Team Kitty Koalition, art installations, 3D projection mapping, rides, slides, death-defying aerial performances (last year featured BMX riders, fire, and whole lot more!), art cars, food trucks, and a market of exotic vendors with crafts, clothing and jewelry.

Last year, BangOnNYC!’s inaugural Elements Festival took over the Red Hook, Brooklyn waterfront with great success. Shpongle headlined with Liquid Stranger and XXYYXX, while fire eaters, hoopers, double decker buses, and bouncy castles entranced festival goers throughout the expansive concrete jungle. Check out the recap video below!

BangOn!NYC describes Elements as “an affair between Berlin, Burning Man , and Bushwick.” While I haven’t been to Berlin or Burning Man, I’ve been to my fair share of festivals and underground parties in the U.K, the Middle East, LA, Washington D.C., and of course NYC. Elements has the “elements” of the old underground parties (anyone remember the Brooklyn outlaw parties, the warehouse parties, or Club Exit…?) but with more activities to get involved in and an overall less sketchy atmosphere. While it’s a “secret location,” it’s a 100% legal event. Yes it may be pricier than the underground parties, but I definitely had more fun at Elements than any warehouse back in 2007-2010; back when raves were actually about “PLUR” and the only locations that would play happy hardcore, drum and bass, and dubstep were the underground clubs. As a college freshman I thought I was a little bad ass to adorn myself in kandi and go party in an abandoned warehouse that was probably a condemned building, later to cough up mysterious black shit the next day. The electronic scene may have become commercialized in recent years, but at least the parties are generally more elaborate and safe.

There is security at Elements, but they’re looking out for YOU. That being said, don’t do/bring anything incredibly stupid. It is a daytime event in a residential neighborhood. No Bad Vibes allowed. This is an art-focused event celebrating international electronic music, dance, and culture! I’m incredibly excited for the world’s fair and circus coming to Brooklyn in the form of Elements Music and Arts Festival.

With almost 1,000 people already confirmed on the Facebook event, chances are you know someone already planning to attend. So don’t miss out! Get your tickets while they’re cheapest and still on sale here! The underground is calling you; answer the call and come out to play at Elements this August.
