Following up their 2018 full-length album ‘In Praise of Darkness‘, EPROM and Alix Perez have teamed up once again for their sixth EP as dark-bass underlords SHADES. Their new EP Black Heart Communion is out now via Deadbeats.
Led by single “Two One Six,” Black Heart Communion is comprised of five tracks, each one more dark and ominous than the next. Perez and EPROM have crafted a very specific and detail-oriented brand within the world of SHADES, placing particular focus on the relationship between the music itself and the artwork associated with it. Each release is accompanied by black and white satanic inspired imagery, with a live show similarly void of color. Each time the duo comes together to release a new project, they prove once again that they are one of the premiere acts in bass music—despite their limited presence.
A SHADES live set has become a somewhat rare event. Since teaming up in 2015 the duo has toured seldomly, staying true to the SHADES brand and remaining mostly in the shadows. Fortunately for SHADES fans, the duo plans to take the stage together again for the first time since 2018’s ‘In Praise of Darkness’ Tour, hitting several major events this summer including Lightning in a Bottle, Paradiso Festival and Bassnectar’s Freestyle Sessions among many more to be announced.
